Pilates help build flexibility, muscle strength, and endurance. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, and developing a strong core.


Pilates Classes

1-2-1 Pilates Class
Whether you are new to Pilates or experienced, a 1-2-1 class can help enormously with technique and overall improvements in technique and overall muscle balancing.

Private Group PIlates Class
A class made up of participants by you or your organisation designed to work around times better suited to you.
Small private group classes can take place:

  • In my personal studio - max 5 people
  • A studio I can hire if over 5 people (cost will reflect hire of premises)
  • At your location or other venue of your choosing if appropriate

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a method of exercising based around the method founded by Joseph Pilates. His original 32 exercises have been developed, evolved and adapted to suit a much wider group of participants.

When people new to Pilates ask me what Pilates is? I reply as simply as possible with this…Pilates aim is to bring the body into balance. Loosening and releasing muscles that have become too tight, toning and building those muscles that have become too slack. The results of which will be a more effortlessly held upright body / posture and greater overall tone strength and flexibility.

We, homosapiens, have evolved into upright creatures with a musculature system that supports primarily the vertical spine. However, as our body ages, with injuries, lack of regular exercise and a more sedentary working habit our body looks and feels like it is crumbling/collapsing.

I used to prefer to do more aerobic/dance classes for exercise & always thought pilates would be a very slow, perhaps even dull, class so never tried it. How wrong was I!! A friend took me along to Sharon's class after raving about how great it was & within the first half of the class I knew I was hooked. Not only is Sharon one of the best teachers I have had in any class but she is kind, funny, very knowledgeable about her craft & a true inspiration. Just when you think you can't stretch that leg any further, along comes Sharon to show you that you can ;-)!! Pilates has had a great effect on my core strength too, I used to struggle to do a sit up without my feet under something to hold them in place but that is no longer the case & I really look forward to every class. I highly recommend it to anyone & everyone.
